sub urban culture farm
ARCH 302 - Jason Johnson - Vienna, Virginia
This project aims to bring urban density to a suburban area by using the existing mass transit corridor to attract housing and food production to a centralized place. This complex creates variety through vertical layering and horizontal bands as well as using the transportation hub to create a gathering spot. The large green roof spanning the interstate not only provides a base for the housing towers reaching above, but also serves a practical use as residents can claim a piece of the roof to grow their own vegetables and fruit. Finally a new Metro station serves the wider Washington, D.C. area and brings people to the project from across the city.
